Laughology, which Hour Magazine called “a tour de force” and the National Post called “screamingly funny” explores why laughter is contagious, and focuses on amazing events in laughter including, Laughter Yoga, Holy Laughter and the Tanzanian laughter epidemic and the man said to have the most contagious laugh, Doug Collins.

Laughology, directed by Laughologist Albert Nerenberg, is a groundbreaking look at why laughter is contagious and the birth of the international laughter movement.

Doug Collins is available for phone interviews. Director Albert Nerenberg is in Toronto.

Collins, a school bus driver in Tennessee, became famous when he appeared as an audience volunteers at a local comedy show in Pigeon Forge Tennessee. An on-stage microphone caught Collin’s nervous laugh and he brought the show to a standstill. The audience and Collins laughed for over 10 minutes straight. A Youtube video of the event, would get over 18 million views and American media would dub Collins the man with the most contagious laugh in the world.

While in Toronto for the Premiere of Laughology at Hotdocs, Collins was tested by media. Generally Collins made people laugh wherever he went.

“The screenings of Laughology had some of the loudest collective laughs I had ever heard in a movie theatre,” wrote film reviewer Gabor Pertic in AnE Vibe. “By the end, the crowd was in hysterics.”

According to Lia Granger in the National Post  “laughter has never been so thoroughly explored in a film as it is here. Nerenberg works as a Laughologist for Canadian media. Laughology was produced for CTV and Canal D.
